The chat history area is the largest part of the Vertabelo Talks window. This is where all messages (yours, others, and database notes) are shown. A message contains the following elements:
User avatar or a randomly-chosen image when no avatar can be found.
Message type: if the message is private, it has a Private identifier and is only visible to you and the other party (usually, the other party is a database or Vertabelo Talks). If there is no identifier shown here, the message is public and visible to all chat members.
Message date and time.
Star and pin buttons (to highlight important messages; see Channel information for details.)
Message content. Depending on the type of message, this is displayed in several ways.
- A text message shows the contents of what was written in the text mode. This is the basic message type.
Once a command message is sent, its content appears in the chat history as a private message. After Vertabelo has processed the command, its result is shown in the chat history.
Once a query message is sent, its content appears in the chat history as a public message. The result from the database is then shown in one of the following ways:
If the result of the query is a single scalar value, it’s shown with a bigger font:
If the result of the query is a single table row, it looks like this:
If the query result is multiple rows in a table, the result is shown as a table:
Four display mode buttons are placed beneath the query result:
RESET – restores the default display mode, as shown above.
TABLE – displays the result as a table.
INTERACTIVE – each row is presented in the JSON format and data can be browsed with a carousel.
EXPANDED – each row is presented as a table and data can be browsed with a carousel.
