Upcoming Database Conferences: Winter 2015-2016

Once again, it’s time for a roundup of upcoming database events. Today, however, we’ll be covering events for the winter season (December 2015 to the end of February 2016) instead of our usual monthly schedule. Why are we changing it up? The holidays, for a start. Plus, organizers tend to schedule events during better traveling weather.Weather and seasonal festivities aside, the conferences are looking interesting. Berlin and Texas will go in-depth on the topic of machine learning and data science, so those interested in smart data should take note. Los Angeles and Sydney will also be hosting their own tech-centric conventions. For a more comprehensive list of software-related events, check out

Vertabelo at Confitura 2014

Last Saturday, Vertabelo was at Confitura 2014 , this year’s edition of the largest free Java conference in Poland. As usual, the conference was organized at the main campus of the University of Warsaw (my beloved Alma Mater!). Unusually, the conference was in two buildings: Auditorium Maximum and the Old Library. Splitting the conference between two locations was a very good idea. The halls were not as crowded as in the years before. “It feels completely unlike Confitura,” was an opinion I overheard.

Last week the Vertabelo team visited the GeeCON 2014 conference. GeeCON is a well-known Polish Java conference. This year, it was organized in Kraków, one of the most beautiful Polish cities, which had been the capital of Poland up till the 16th century. There were over 1000 participants and about 100 lectures and lecturers. Hats off to the organizers for managing the crowd because they did it perfectly. We went to GeeCON to promote Vertabelo. We spent the conference presenting Vertabelo to participants, explaining what it is and how it differs from other database modeling tools. The participants generally liked the idea of

33

We’re back to our quite chill office after attending the 33rdDegree Conference. I was wondering why they call it the 33rdDegree Conference. In three days, I had a chance to experience all 33 degrees … in Celsius. It was hot - very hot! Even Californian iPads hung up (ha ha). This time, we brought along a smaller team: Ania, Jarek and me. All of us are heavily involved in Vertabelo, so I sometimes forgot that we also went to the conference to promote our company,
